What Dreams Are Made Of

How do you share the happiness of sending over 1400 campers to Camp Māk-A-Dream in Missoula, Montana for the last twenty years? A night of pure celebration for our 20th annual Cookies N’ Dreams! I N C R E D I B L E! This is what dreams are made of with over 550 guests and the pure joy and excitement of our campers, young guests and bakers alike.

We honored our founders, the late Sylvia & Harry Granader for making this dream become a reality. Others honored for their 20 years of volunteerism with Camp Māk-A-Dream were: Catherine & Nathan Forbes, Connie Jacob, Hadar Granader, Robert E. Mellen, Cindy Cohen and Amy Singer.

Fun For All

Our entertainment was “magical” with dancing and music by Star Trax, Mojo and Shannon as emcees, Face Painting and Balloon Twisters by Modern Ink Body Art, a Lego Station, pictures with Cookie Monster and Paws from the Detroit Tigers and the Chick-Fil-A cow handing out milk. In honor of our campers we had a star attraction with a magic show by Jasen Magic who mesmerized everyone with his talents.

Overwhelming Support

Through the support of our bakers, guests and sponsors we raised over $148,000 dollars plus another $35,000 to purchase a Ford 7 Passenger Transit Connect Cargo Van for camp. We presented a check for this van to Kim McKearnan, Camp Director and Jennifer Benton, Program Director at our event with much celebration.

We are grateful to all our incredible bakers and amazing teen and adult volunteers. This night would not have been the same without them.

This year we were fortunate to have a great number of our campers and their entire families with us. Several of our teen campers spoke at this event. They related their experiences prior to camp and then the difference this one week meant going forward. It was transforming just listening to them. Profound gratitude and heartwarming experiences. This evening was certainly an extension of their sharing and being able to be themselves at camp. We sent 79 campers from Michigan plus 8 chaperones this past summer. More than ever! We welcomed so many past friends, family and campers who came especially to celebrate with us. This is a real honor to be able to give and to share their dreams and ours. A finishing tribute was Jassmine Parks who sang so beautifully “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”. We sincerely thank you for your kindness and generosity.

We thank you all for being a large part of this and we wish you a Happy New Year!
